Soffiati (CEO Rematrix): speed up implementation of regulations for sustainable management in textiles
Soffiati at the Chamber pointed out that the textile sector "is experiencing regulatory uncertainty. Despite the fact that the obligation of separate collection will be active from 2022 in Italy, Italian companies do not have clear indications on how to organize themselves in the domestic market."
"It is essential to accelerate the implementation of an EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) scheme so that companies, particularly those in the textile industry, can plan strategic investments and improve their competitiveness in the medium term in the European market." This was said by Enrico Soffiati, CEO of Rematrix, an Italian Producer Responsibility Organization specializing in sustainable textile waste management, during a hearing at the House Environment Committee.

EPR Tessile ai nastri di partenza: il ruolo di Rematrix
Ogni anno, l’Unione Europea produce circa 7 milioni di tonnellate di rifiuti tessili, di cui solo il 15% viene raccolto separatamente per il riuso o il riciclo.
In questo scenario, le aziende e i consorzi si trovano di fronte alla sfida di trasformare la normativa sulla Responsabilità Estesa del Produttore (EPR) in un’opportunità concreta per creare filiere circolari, più sostenibili ed efficienti.
